Mel visits our 2
greyhounds in the afternoons on a regular basis. She gives them some
company and plays with them in the garden. We were looking for someone
who would be reliable and responsible in the job, and so far Mel has not
let us down even once. It was (and continues to be) also important to us
that we should have confidence in the person to whom we are entrusting
our 2 babies and our home in our absence, and Mel has not disappointed
in that regard either. She has a calm quiet way with our dogs (which we
think is the correct way to be) and handles them very well, and she also
has plenty of common sense. We believe she has a genuine interest in the
wellbeing of our dogs and
that she enjoys what she does. Mel has now built a real relationship
with all the family (human and furries), and she has a valued place in

We are over the moon with the service that Mel from Walkies has given our two dogs. We have two Labradors, Sophie 7 and Jessica 5 months – a challenge in itself!. Sophie is still adjusting to Jessica so I was really concerned at having to leave them. Then I found Mel and my worries were totally resolved. From the moment we met, Mel gave me confidence that she would not only cope well, but would really enjoy looking after our dogs. She wanted to know all about their behaviour patterns, their likes and dislikes. She listened to my worries and explained how she would handle the dogs, and meet their differing needs. Mel has looked after the dogs several times now – she has fed them, played with them, trained them a bit and generally loved them. They have had lots of fun and I believe that secretly, think I am a bit boring now! But I can put up with that!!! I had already had 4 dog walkers when Mel was recommended to me. My problem was I had rescued 2 dogs from the Caribbean who both had medical problems were very antisocial and not used to other dogs, so they needed to be walked separately. Most dog walkers wanted to walk groups of dogs at a time or the ones who were willing to walk mine separately were very inexperienced and could not cope with my boisterous as yet untrained dogs. As soon as Mel started walking and looking after my dogs everything fell into place. The main ingredient missing from other dog walkers was common sense and Mel had lots of it. Some days due to various ailments and injuries my dogs do not want to go for a walk so she will sit with them and play with them, she will take them on a long walk or depending on their mood a short stroll. She is in tune with them and very experienced at looking after and training dogs, she is able to tell if a dog is scared, unwell or miserable and act accordingly. It would be fair to say that without Mel I do not think I could manage with a full time job and 2 difficult dogs. I would recommend Walkies totally they have all the qualities you would look for in a dog walker, they are kind, trustworthy and intelligent and have buckets of experience. Mel and Zoë are an absolute Godsend - we now wonder what we'd do without them! A change in our working hours meant we needed to find someone to help out occasionally with Ben, our dog. Jenn has been walking
Millie for an hour every day while we are at work for the last 8 months
or so. Millie loves Jenn and she really enjoys the walks to the fields
and the park. I'm convinced that Millie
misses Jenn at the weekends and holidays. In the earlydays, Jenn would
leave me a daily note just to let meknow how they had got on. Jenn has
also spent time training Millie to sit when she puts her lead on as
Millie can get very excited. Jenn has shown Millie alot of
patience and love and has made a real effort to get to know Millie and
understand her needs. In return she has gained Millies trust, love and
friendship.I would most definately recommend walkies pet services to
anyone who needed some company or walking for their pets during the day.

I don't know what I'd do now without Walkies! I can go to work with peace of mind knowing that Bella gets to go out during the day for a run and to play with other dogs and that makes me and her happy. I call Zoë and Mel my 4th Emergency Service! Unfortunately I ruptured my Achilles Tendon and fractured a bone in my foot which meant that I was in a cast for 12 weeks. Walkies is the best thing we have done for our dogs. Zoë & Mel are surrogate mum's to our three babies and make their lives fun when we are at work. Winston loves it when we go on holiday now - not only does he get a visit from 2 lovely ladies but he often also gets left a toy and has a real fuss made of him! We decided to contact Walkies fairly soon after getting Winston from a rescue centre, as we really didn't like the thought of him being put into a cattery thinking we had left him there for good! Billy is a young Yorkshire Terrier. He is a very large specimen of this breed, but just what I wanted. He is a great companion, affectionate and fun. However he has a fault which I have not been able to correct; he pulls on the lead and does not walk to heel. I have injured my shoulder and taking Billy for a walk has become a problem. I have a long garden, so Billy gets plenty of exercise chasing balls up and down. However I felt that he was missing the excitement of an interesting walk. I read in the local paper about the service that 'Walkies' gives and made the arrangement with Mel & Zoë that they would give Billy a good walk once a week until my shoulder is fully recovered. This is working out very well. Billy gives them an enthusiastic welcome and obviously enjoys his time with them. We've always wanted a dog and without Jenn from Walkies this would not have been possible. We brought Digby home at 8 weeks and Jenn has been part of his life since then. She visits him twice a day when we are both at work....at first just to play in the house and keep him company and since he's got older to take him out for walks, socialise him and help us continue our training. We even get a little "school report" each day to tells us how he's been getting on and most importantly Digby loves his time with Jenn!
